a day by day calender of what was going on in the alternative music scene at that time. record release dates, concert dates,short items about band news, and photos of band posters and album covers. it's great for helping to remember obscure band names and when you may have seen a band in concert.

comes with a great CD with band interviews and songs of the period. an hour+ long rockumentary! With a lot of tracks, rare interviews from performers (like Siouxsie And The Banshees and Psychedelic Furs) and a great narrator THE CD ALONE is worth the price of the book. And worth mentioning that the CD is UNIQUE, you can not get it elsewhere!

out of print although some consider it to be one of the best things ever published about Ali. It's a mistake to measure its value solely on the quality of the photographs (which are extraordinary). Sheed's essay is of definite interest. Unlike many of the more well-known, but slightly hagiographic Ali biographies in print, Sheed manages to balance his obvious admiration for the book's subject while at the same time presenting a critical view of him and the forces that created his mythology

Wilfred Sheeds book about boxing legend Muhammed Ali is a great colour pictorial report which contains many great photo's of the great fights of muhammed ali against Sonny Liston, Joe frazier and George Foremann, but also shows ali as the family man and religious and (political) activist. A must for every box fan and not that expensive and still sensational.

loved the large colorful pictures, especially a 2 page layout of Ali glaring disdainfully at a retreating George Foreman. The pictures alone make the book a worthy purchase.
