Synopsis:
In the distant future, the Christian religion has become the dominant political force on Earth, using the second coming of Jesus as their figurehead. But all is not as it seems, for the church is fighting a constant battle against vampires. When a standard mission brings Jesus' faith into question, can he cope with the terrible reality he discovers?
In the near future, nuclear Holy War has decimated North America and humanity's last stronghold is the dome metropolis of New Vatican City. When vampires attack, the Church turns to a clone of Jesus Christ Himself to protect them! But all is not as it seems for the Test Tube Messiah, as he's drawn into a web of betrayal, bloodshed, and seduction!
Vampires are real, the Vatican is manipulating the masses, and an army of warrior clones of Christ executes their wishes. One lone escapee, the intended Messiah, finds himself out and about in the world, where morality isn’t so black and white, and not everything he’s been taught is true. Mike Norton provides terrific art to Tim Seeley’s script. The story presumes a little too much foreknowledge if its predecessory, but it’s also pretty easy to pick up as one goes along. About as blasphemous as it sounds, with enough quality story to justify it rather than the simple shock value you might expect.
