The series features some of the more popular characters from the immensely popular video game of the same name as they experience adventures as part of an elite paramilitary group.
The series stars all the old favorite characters from the video game, along with a couple of new members to add variety. In sum, the seven-member team consists of female martial arts expert Sonya; the extremely powerful Jax; sword expert Mikka Stone; special forces veteran Cody Finnegan; the immaterial woman named Vapor; the cyborg named Torque; and stealth expert Sylent. The team’s major enemy is the terrorist organization known as Black Dragon.
Mortal Kombat became legendary as a video game in the arcades, both for its high-tech kung fu fighting animations and for its grisly “finishing scenes” where the winning player could literally tear apart his hapless opponent. Hugely popular, it was only a matter of time before the characters from Mortal Kombat was adapted into comic book form.
