GUMBY SUMMER FUN SPECIAL #1 COMIC BOOK ART ADAMS VINTAGE POKEY ART CLOKEY RARE!!

GUMBY SUMMER FUN SPECIAL #1 Comic Book

published by COMICO in 1987. 1988 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards - Winner - Best Single Issue: (Bub Burden and Art Adams [Comico])

Gumby’s Summer Fun Special is a lot of fun. Really. Despite being based on the green clay U.S. children’s character. Gumby and Pokey, his orange horse chum, some children and a baby-sitting werewolf get mixed up with hysterical aliens (bad guys) and space bears (good guys), a group of nice pirates and a crazy town where it’s permanently Hallowe’en. Bob Burden’s script is minimal and funny, with the plot always on the brink of coming apart at the seams. The fact that he manages to keep all the plates in the air makes for manic fun, while Art Adams’ detailed artwork is always a joy.

The book can be appreciated on two levels: a charming story featuring Gumby (the popular Claymation character created by Art Clokey), and an absurd romp through pop culture with crisp, clean art by Arthur Adams.

Highly Recommended!

GUMBY COMIC BOOK POKEY ART CLOKEY BOB BURDON RICK GEARY ANIMATION CLAY RARE OOP!

GUMBY Comic Book

The fantastic stories of the clay-boy Gumby and his pal Pokey the pony are brought to life in Bob Burden and Rick Geary’s book Gumby. Re-creating the adorable, whimsical world created by Art Clokey that was first introduced in 1956, the series brings new tales to life as Gumby explores, makes new friends, and finds himself embroiled in adventures. Always determined to do his best, Gumby prevails against a number of different adversities, from bullies, to robbers, to fires, and provides simple morals and a good example for the youngest of readers.

Bob Burden and Rick Geary once again take the reader deep into Gumby's world, as only these two can. This time, Gumby hops a ride with some hobo's in search of his pal Pokey, only to land smack dab in the middle of "The Town With No Fun!" It is a guaranteed great time for everyone, young and old.
