You are Avenger, a Ninja Warrior, worshipper of Kwon, Supreme Master of Unarmed Combat. Trained in the Way of the Tiger, you are now an outstanding master of the martial arts, ready to use your deadly skills to overturn evil and to avenge the death of your foster-father, Naijishi.

Naijishi’s assassin has stolen the Scrolls of Kettsuin, a guardian of the secret Word of Power, which could imprison Kwon in the Inferno forever, unleashing the forces of evil throughout the World of Orb. Your quest is to find the assassin before he reaches the Pillars of Change.

Are you ready for the Way of the Tiger?

As a ninja trained in the deadly Way of the Tiger, you must leave your island home to stop evil monk Yaemon from performing a ritual that will leave your god trapped in the hellish Inferno.

The Way of the Tiger is the name of a series of adventure gamebooks by Mark Smith and Jamie Thomson set on the fantasy world of Orb. The reader takes the part of a young ninja, Avenger, on his quest to avenge his foster father and recover the Scrolls of Kettsuin.

Compared to other gamebooks such as those in the Fighting Fantasy series, The Way of the Tiger provided a more developed storyline and atmosphere, as well as three-dimensional characters.

Orb was also used as the setting for the Fighting Fantasy gamebook Talisman of Death, again by Smith & Thomson.

Each book has a warning at the front against performing any of the ninja related feats in the book as "They could lead to serious injury or death to an untrained user".
