DUCKMAN COMIC BOOK #0 ANIMATED JASON ALEXANDER USA NETWORK DETECTIVE RARE OOP!!

DUCKMAN #0 COMIC BOOK

Everett Peck’s feathered private dick/family man made it big as an animated series on the USA cable network. This new, 1994 series from Topps marked Duckman’s triumphant return to the medium that had spawned him.

Duckman (brought to life on TV by the voice of Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander) is a wise-cracking, cynical loudmouth who looks good only as compared to his mutant family. The series is unique in that it easily jumps from lowbrow humor to off-the-wall references to the Beatles or William S. Burroughs. All of this is delivered at a frenetic pace which leaves you laughing, while at the same time wanting to reread the issue to catch the parts you missed the first time around.

With the exception of Donald and his clan, ducks seem to have a hard time of things in comics. Howard the Duck, and later Destroyer Duck were hardly the happy-go-lucky sort. To that list we can now add Everett Peck’s Duckman, Private Dick/Family Man.

Duckman runs a ramshackle detective agency, where he is hounded by sickeningly cute gopher twins who see reforming Duckman as their mission in life. At the end of the day he heads home to his new age, exercise-crazed wife Beatrice, annoying teenage son Ajax, strange twins Charles and Mambo, and, of course, the inert, TV-watching Grandma-ma (whom the twins are required to vacuum at least once a week).

This comic book was never available to the mass market and was only sold in comic book specialty shops.
