A direct sequel to the events of Army of Darkness. Beginning moments after Ash has taken out the Demonic She-Bitch at S-Mart.

“Ashe 2 Ashes” continues the story of Ash Williams, the time-travelling, boomstick-wielding, S-Mart employee who originated in Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead movie trilogy. In fact, the first seven pages of the comic recap the events of Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness, up to Ash’s triumphant return to the present from 1300 A.D. To his dismay, however, a wise man from the past appears and informs him that he flubbed the spell of recall and returned to a time just before he left. On the one hand, he has destroy the demonic Necronomicon after it sends his earlier self back in time. On the other hand, with this second chance he may be able to save his girlfriend Linda. Writer Andy Hartnell (one of the creators of Danger Girl) and penciler Nick Bradshaw provide dialogue and drawings that are just over-the-top enough to capture the crazed spirit of the movies.

After defeating the Deadite from the end of Army of Darkness, Ash spies the Wiseman who has followed him back to the present. He is told because of his mispronunciation of the mystic words, he has returned to his own time too early. Ash’s girlfriend, Linda, is still alive and he watches his past self drive off to the cabin with her. For rather dubious reasons, Ash follows, with the Wiseman in tow, to save his girlfriend and ensure his other self goes back in time.


He's back, Baby! Featuring characters from the film, Army of Darkness, this first issue finds Ash forced to leave behind the S-Mart when a face from the past recruits him for another go-round with the Necronomicon and its Deadite minions! Ash gets a "do-over" to set right a new problem caused by his misspeaking of those notorious magic words, charged with the unusual task of returning to a certain cabin in the woods on the fateful night he first learned of the existence of The Book of the Dead!

Meanwhile, the TMNT are apparently skirmishing with a gigantic turtle robot in the woods of Northampton as Master Splinter looks on. Suddenly the bot ceases its operations and comes crashing to the ground. The Turtles scramble to open the machine up, and Donatello pops out, explaining how he accidently overloaded the onboard computer and with a few tweaks he'll have it ready to roll again.

Half-black, half-Hispanic Spider-Man revealed
We have an African-American president, so why not an African-American Spider-Man, too?

Revealed in Marvel Comics' Ultimate Fallout Issue 4, out Wednesday, the new Spider-Man in the Ultimate universe is a half-black, half-Hispanic teen named Miles Morales. He takes over the gig held by Peter Parker, who was killed in Ultimate Spider-Man Issue 160 in June.

In his first appearance, he simply breaks up a fight. But readers will learn the true origin of Morales and how he became the new Spider-Man when Ultimate Spider-Man relaunches in September with a new No. 1 issue.

"The theme is the same: With great power comes great responsibility," says writer Brian Michael Bendis. "He's going to learn that. Then he has to figure out what that means."

Morales' journey will be a similar vehicle for today's fans, says Marvel's editor in chief, Axel Alonso.

"What you have is a Spider-Man for the 21st century who's reflective of our culture and diversity. We think that readers will fall in love with Miles Morales the same way they fell in love with Peter Parker."

In addition to an alliterative name, Miles has a connection to his predecessor in how he received his powers. But he will have different abilities, too. Supporting characters such as Peter's Aunt May and Gwen Stacy also will give Miles nuggets of wisdom to help his transition from young kid to New York City superhero.

There’s an almost photographic feel to Corben’s drawing, which is strangely at odds with the grotesques that populate his strips. The strong coloring and lettering styles play an important role, producing an unsettling overall effect on the artwork. RICHARD CORBEN (b. 1940) is one of the best-known fantasy artists in the world. In 1970 he self-published FANTAGOR, a science fiction/horror comic, and later worked on Underground comix such as SLOW DEATH. In the early '70s he drew many stories for the Warren line (CREEPY, EERIE, VAMPIRELLA), and finally came Métal Hurlant, the French magazine released in America as HEAVY METAL, for whom Corben did many memorable stories.

All of the stories in the entire run of Twisted Tales were written by Jones, who had shown a knack for horror a decade before when he was employed as a scripter for Warren Publishing, writing for their Creepy and Eerie titles. Jones, a self-described "child of the 50’s", was heavily influenced by the horror and science fiction movies of that decade. But as noted in his editorial in Issue #1, his chief inspiration was the bloody and ironically moralistic tales of the EC horror comics such as TALES FROM THE CRYPT. His work in Twisted Tales, often utilizing twist endings, added huge dollops of graphic violence and sexy sensuality to the EC formula.
