The Hallowed Seam PR Vol 3 is a canvas bound hardcover book. The cover has a circle cut out to show a humming bird. James Jean is a prolific sketcher and has filled many Moleskine sketchbooks. This book collects some of his sketches as well as some photos, one of which shows a dead humming bird he found on the street. See any link?

most are sketches from life, be it on the plane, at the cafe, tattoo parlour or wherever he is. There are also figure drawings in nude sketches. Some of the pieces are briefly coloured, some are just playgrounds for colours.

Many of the pieces are intricate character studies. He has a very unique sketching style, many times he'll draw on top of what he already drew, creating a sort of collage. There would be heads, hands or legs in different angles, but in the same space, as if the person he is drawing has somehow moved and now the new position is drawn on top.

It's always interesting to read what other people write in their sketchbooks, to find out what they are doing at the time when pen meets paper.

If you've always wonder what he sketches, this book will give you a glimpse of that. Maybe you'll find your own inspiration from those fine lines.

From what I read on James Jean's blog, the regular edition is going out at 50 copies per day since launch. It's probably going to sell out like his Process Recess Volume 2: Portfolio and Fables Covers: The Art of James Jean Vol. 1, both of which sell at least US$100 online currently.

A sprawling epic tale in the style of Sergio Leone's classic spaghetti westerns, we follow the exploits of Marshal Mike Blueberry as he ventures through the untamed west. All of the archetypal western elements are present. A true classic which, tragically, for the most part has remained unknown outside of Europe.

U.S. Cavalry Lieutenant Mike Blueberry of Fort Navajo was stripped of his commission to get him involved in what turns out to be a plot to assassinate then U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant.

Despite the best efforts of Blueberry and agents of the Secret Service, villainous pretty-boy Angel Face and his co-conspirators seem to have the upper hand. Blueberry's toughness and determination, however, only need a break to foil the handsome assassin. The question is, will the Blueberry get the break he needs to recover his reputation?

Tightly plotted with action that never flags, these stories, written by Giraud's brilliant colleague Charlier, are terrific Sergio-Leone style westerns.

A volume of a series, set in America of the late 1800s by a French artist/writer team, starring U.S. cavalry officer Lieutenant Blueberry. Drafted, to his chagrin, as a kind of James Bond on a horse. The core of Charlier's story of espionage in the Old West, an unusual treatment for a western when this first appeared in a French magazine in 1970, will seem familiar to contemporary readers. But his ability to complicate the plot, unexpectedly adding new conspirators, infuses the narrative with fresh blood. Although grittier than his science fiction work, which is better known in the U.S., "Moebius" Giraud's drawings here display his characteristic penchant for detail and expressively beautiful line work.

Moebius later moved on to become one of Heavy Metal's franchise artists in 1977. The critically acclaimed stories in the Blueberry series are realistic and unglamorous.
