As host of her own late-night TV show, she would show truly terrible horror movies, using the time around commercial breaks to ridicule the movie with a series of awful jokes. And then there was the dress… Naturally, when DC wanted a host for its new House of Mystery series, it chose her. So, for a brief, eleven-issue run, the Mistress of the Dark had a new career. Instead of hosting terrible horror movies, she hosted some rather nice horror comic stories. Fans of the older House of Mystery series will be cheered to note that their old host, the ghoulish Cain, returned in issue #10 to stage a palace revolt. He got his comeuppance soon after, however, when his brother Abel, the old House of Secrets host, pushed Cain aside to host the eleventh and final issue. This is an extremely rare issue, published in 1987 by DD COMICS. Highly sought after. RARE and OUT OF PRINT! Impossible to find! This item was never sold in any mass market retail outlets. It has had a number of writers and artists, including Paul Dini. The plots often launch from Elvira’s job as a sexy horror movie hostess for station K-WHA? and her conflicts with her bosses and sponsors.
