Bongo Entertainment Group.

“The mouse is called Itchy, the cat is Scratchy. They don’t like each other, and they’re not shy about showing it!”

Itchy & Scratchy is a devilish takeoff on the old Tom & Jerry cartoons. As a cartoon within a cartoon (they’re comic character Bart Simpson’s favorite cartoon show), it has, until now, been limited to 30-second, hyper-violent appearances on the Simpsons’ television set. Now the pair is free to smash, electrocute, explode, and otherwise mutilate each other in extended form. Anti-violence watchdogs beware: Itchy & Scratchy is hilarious exactly because of its senseless mayhem.

Bongo Entertainment Group. This title is the flagship of a line that includes Itchy & Scratchy Comics, Radioactive Man, and Bartman.

The Simpsons themselves became something of an American national craze in the late eighties and early nineties. In particular, the family’s exuberant young troublemaker, Bart, was featured on countless T-shirts, lunch boxes, and other merchandise accompanied by personal quotes such as, “Don’t have a cow, Man!” Created by cartoonist Matt Groening (“rhymes with ‘complaining’”), the Simpsons are a sort of comic antidote to the Brady Bunch. They often drive each other to wits’ end, but are ultimately just a lovable family of misfits.

FUTURAMA #1 COMIC BOOK

For fans of the classic animated Television series FUTURAMA!

RARE and OUT OF PRINT

Originally published in 2000 by Bongo Comics, Matt Groening's comic book company.

“Our humble aim,” writes Futurama Comics creator Matt Groening in the foreword to the series’ first issue, “is to both honor science fiction and to make fun of the genre’s built in absurdities…” Futurama Comics, based upon the hit animated Fox television show, is an outrageously funny and often strange world envisioned by Groening, the same man responsible for the wildly popular television series, The Simpsons. Futurama Comics follows the adventures of seven very different employees of Planet Express Delivery Service as they try to make a living in the year 3000.

Making up the three core members of the cast are Bender the booze-driven robot, Fry a cryogenically frozen delivery boy from the 20th century, and Leela the one-eyed captain of the delivery spaceship. Most of their adventures circle around the rather feeble-minded Fry’s nostalgic reminiscing of life in the 20th Century and his search to share his previous life with his new friends, often ending with disastrous results.
