Beginning with a tribute to the original story, The Wizard of Oz. Acting as a continuation to the Dark Ozseries, The Land Of Oz happens in a brand new timeline, although still set in the same universe as the previous Oz comics fromCaliber Comics and Arrow Comics. Thanks to Ozma's dipping into the reality-altering Book of Undo, she has reset things in Oz prior to the Nome King's original takeover from ten years previously. So, a few things that are different is that Dorothy never aged physically into an adult, and most of the regular Oz heroes never took on more humanoid forms like Lion. Oz is about three young people who come to L. Frank Baum's Land of Oz to assist a group a Freedom Fighters (Amber Ombi (nephew of Ombi Ambi), Jack Pumpkinhead, Tik-Tok, Wogglebug, Hungry Tiger etc.) who have banded together when Ruggedo and Mombi have conquered it, placing the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion on the thrones of various parts of the country, placed under spells to make them tyrants.

Beginning with a tribute to the original story, The Wizard of Oz, the tale begins with three 90’s era twenty-somethings being swept away from our Earth to the land of Oz via tornado. There they discover that sinister forces have been at work, and the evil Nome King now rules the land with an iron fist and an army of rock-dwelling minions. Having become unwilling freedom fighters in a world not their own, Earthlings Peter, Kevin, and Mary (as well as Kevin’s dog, Max) soon play a central role in ridding the once-beautiful Oz of the Nome King’s dark influence.
