THE ROCKETEER GRAPHIC NOVEL DAVE STEVENS WALT DISNEY ECLIPSE HARLAN ELLISON RARE

THE ROCKETEER GRAPHIC NOVEL. written and illustrated by DAVE STEVENS.

Original 80's version, published by Eclipse Comics.

Introduction by HARLAN ELLISON. filled with lavish full color illustrations.

The Rocketeer is best known for the classic Disney movie, which was adapted faithfully from the original comic books.

Dave Stevens’ Rocketeer is a labor of love, indulged by fans because it’s the best chance we’re ever likely to have of seeing more than covers and posters from this meticulous and beautiful artist.

The Rocketeer of the title is Cliff Secord, a young pilot who lives in a world Stevens has crafted from 1930s pulp fiction and 1940s whimsy. It’s a world of rocket jetpacks, gangsters, high adventure and model girl-friends who look exactly like 1950s pinup Betty Page. The period feel of the book is pure nostalgia, the plots light but perfectly weighted, and the art is a dream.

Following Cliff’s high-flying adventures in grand style.

IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND!

Highly recommended.

REAL WAR STORIES COMIC BOOK PEACE MOVEMENT CITIZEN SOLDIER BILL SIENKIEWICZ CCCO

REAL WAR STORIES COMIC BOOK! CITIZEN SOLDIER

RARE and OUT OF PRINT. HARD TO FIND COLLECTORS ITEM

The Department of Defense tried to stop the distribution of Real War Stories, published on behalf of the Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors. The second issue highlighted the work of Citizen Soldier, an organization dedicated to protecting the civil and human rights of its GI/veteran members.

The Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors (CCC0) is in the business of peacemaking. It provides essential information for young men and women who become conscientious objectors after enlisting in the armed services, and it serves as a resource center for young men who may have moral reservations about registering with Selective Service. The CCC0 also collaborates with other organizations to encourage nonviolence as an alternative to military confrontations.

The comic focuses on brutality and abuses within the US military; hazing, reckless training, needless exposure to hazardous materials, abandonment of veterans, deceptive recruitment practices, the military's lack of accountability, and more.

Contributions by Joyce Brabner, Jim Naureckas, Dean Motter, Mike W. Barr, Tod Ensign, Paul Gulacy, Bill Sienkiewicz, Wayne Van Sant, Stephan DeStephano, Mark Badger, and a back cover by Paul Mavrides

TIMOTHY BRADSTREET TRUMAN DRAGON CHIANG GRAPHIC NOVEL!!

DRAGON CHIANG GRAPHIC NOVEL.

THIS VERSION IS LONG OUT OF PRINT.

ILLUSTRATED BY ACCLAIMED ARTISTS TIMOTHY BRADSTREET AND TIMOTHY TRUMAN (WHO ALSO WRITES)

Published by Eclipse Comics.

In a dystopian future, a supertough Chinese truck driver who listens to Merle Haggard and Elvis Presley, goes after the bandits who have stolen his high-tech rig. Think “Mad Max Meets Cannonball Run.” Throughout this black-and-white adventure, Chiang shows us what happens to men without honor, and waxes philosophic about the politics of a world where America is no longer the land of opportunity. This is cool stuff from the mind of Timothy Truman (The Spider, Grimjack, Hawkworld).

Dragon Chiang originally appeared in short installments in European comics and was collected and published in America by Eclipse Books.

JAMES BOND 007 GRAPHIC NOVEL PERMISSION TO DIE SPY OOP!

JAMES BOND 007 GRAPHIC NOVEL!
PERMISSION TO DIE

OUT OF PRINT. HARD TO FIND COLLECTOR'S ITEMS FEATURING JAMES BOND.

This graphic novel features lavish full color artwork.

Mike Grell brings back the world’s most famous spy in this action-packed series. A reclusive scientist has discovered a means for launching satellites into space for a tiny fraction of the cost of a conventional spaceshot. This method could spell success for the Star Wars defense system, but the inventor has refused to deal with the military. He will, however, give the plans to the British—if they do him one small favor. He wants them to rescue his niece from behind the Iron Curtain.

Naturally, James Bond, agent 007, is called into action. In a story worthy of Ian Fleming, Grell’s 007 treks across the world and into the face of incredible danger to complete his mission. As a member of the “00” section, he has been given permission to kill for his country. “But,” he is reminded, “nobody gave you permission to die.”

FRITZ LANG'S M GRAPHIC NOVEL JON J MUTH PAINTED ART OOP

FRITZ LANG'S M GRAPHIC NOVEL. Illustrated by JON J MUTH. V3
GRAPHIC NOVEL/ILLUSTRATED BOOK (1990)

THIS VERSION IS LONG OUT OF PRINT.

Published by Eclipse Comics.

This is the hard to find first printing of the original M volume with lavishly painted illustrations by artist JON J MUTH.

This is the RARE original 1990 published version of the Graphic Novel, and was never sold in any mass market retail outlets. It was only available to purchase through comic book specialty shops.

Product Description
Behind every great suspense thriller lurks the shadow of M. In Fritz Lang's first sound film from 1931, Peter Lorre delivers a haunting performance as a serial killer--a whistling pedophile hunted by the police and brought to trial by the forces of the Berlin underworld.

In 1990, a young painter, Jon J Muth, continued his rise in the comic book industry by adapting the story of M into a four-issue comic book miniseries. Muth's photorealistic illustrations paved the way for the acceptance of painted comics, influencing a generation of artists who followed him. He hewed closely to Lang's original German script, employing a painterly, photorealistic style that evoked the grainy, tinted footage of early talkies. The result, more influential than popular in an era of rampant speculation and chromium covers, was undeniably gorgeous.

Lang's story—an unidentified serial killer stalks children in a small German city—is simple but compelling, allowing Muth's masterful technique to shine through. The watercolors are primarily sepia-toned, with occasional splashes of color for emphasis, giving the project a surreal, dreamlike quality that serves to heighten suspense. Muth's layouts are excellent, creating mise-en-scènes that evoke Lang without copying him, and his figures' acting (body language and facial expressions) also serves both story and mood.

Young children are being killed by a brutal murderer. The police can’t figure out who it is. Mobsters are perplexed. Unions are in a panic. A chain reaction has begun with desperation and suspicion making an entire city suspicious of every shadow, every person.

Jon Muth has put together a murder mystery of mood and suspense that captures the feel of Fritz Lang’s classic 1931 German motion picture.

THE HOBBIT GRAPHIC NOVEL. JRR TOLKIEN. VOLUME 1
GRAPHIC NOVEL/ILLUSTRATED BOOK (1989)

THIS VERSION IS LONG OUT OF PRINT.

ILLUSTRATED BY ACCLAIMED FANTASY ARTIST DAVID WENZEL!!

Published by Eclipse Comics.

This is the hard to find first printing of the original HOBBIT volume with full color lavishly painted illustrations by artist DAVID WENZEL.

This is the RARE original 1989 published version of the Graphic Novel, and was never sold in any mass market retail outlets. It was only available to purchase through comic book specialty shops.

Product Description
Full-color artwork complements an adapted, graphic novel version of the epic fantasy novel that chronicles the adventures of the inhabitants of Middle-earth and of Bilbo Baggins, the hobbit who brought home to The Shire the One Ring of Power.

J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit has become one of the best-loved books of all time. Tolkien's fantasy was then adapted into a fully painted graphic novel, which became a classic in its own right... The enchanted prelude to The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit is the story of Bilbo Baggins, a quiet and contented hobbit whose life is turned upside down when he joins the wizard Gandalf and thirteen dwarves on their quest to reclaim stolen treasure. It is a journey fraught with danger -- and in the end it is Bilbo Baggins alone who must face the guardian of this treasure, the most dreaded dragon in all Middle-earth. Here, the classic tale is told in a full- color, graphic novel format.

"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort."

The hobbit-hole in question belongs to one Bilbo Baggins, an upstanding member of a "little people, about half our height, and smaller than the bearded dwarves." He is, like most of his kind, well off, well fed, and best pleased when sitting by his own fire with a pipe, a glass of good beer, and a meal to look forward to. Certainly this particular hobbit is the last person one would expect to see set off on a hazardous journey; indeed, when Gandalf the Grey stops by one morning, "looking for someone to share in an adventure," Baggins fervently wishes the wizard elsewhere. No such luck, however; soon 13 fortune-seeking dwarves have arrived on the hobbit's doorstep in search of a burglar, and before he can even grab his hat or an umbrella, Bilbo Baggins is swept out his door and into a dangerous adventure.
The dwarves' goal is to return to their ancestral home in the Lonely Mountains and reclaim a stolen fortune from the dragon Smaug. Along the way, they and their reluctant companion meet giant spiders, hostile elves, ravening wolves--and, most perilous of all, a subterranean creature named Gollum from whom Bilbo wins a magical ring in a riddling contest. It is from this life-or-death game in the dark that J.R.R. Tolkien's masterwork, The Lord of the Rings, would eventually spring. Though The Hobbit is lighter in tone than the trilogy that follows, it has, like Bilbo Baggins himself, unexpected iron at its core. Don't be fooled by its fairy-tale demeanor; this is very much a story for adults, though older children will enjoy it, too. By the time Bilbo returns to his comfortable hobbit-hole, he is a different person altogether, well primed for the bigger adventures to come--and so is the reader.

This squarebound book is in brand new condition and measures approx 6.5" x 10" inches, and is printed on high quality paper to enhance the delicate and beautifully painted artwork.

POWER COMICS #1.

First issue collectors item.

A comic book starring an AFRICAN SUPERHERO!!

Drawn by DAVE GIBBONS, the co-creator of the acclaimed graphic novel/movie THE WATCHMEN!
Published by Eclipse Comics in 1988

Brian Bolland (illustrator of Batman the Killing Joke) and Dave Gibbons cut their professional teeth on the Nigerian super-hero strip collected herein. Each issue features a story from both artists. The tales of Powerman (or Powerbolt as he was called for the U.S. market).

Gibbons said that an executive from a Nigerian advertising agency approached Bardon Press Features to discuss the idea of making a series with a black superhero; the man and his wife saw that in Nigeria, the comics available were imported and had White protagonists. Gibbons designed the character and the series logo and worked chores with Bolland. Gibbons said that he published one 14-page issue per month, which was published every two weeks (fourteen days and nights).

In 1988, Eclipse Comics republished the series but changed Powerman's name to Powerbolt. Powerman, who had a lot of strength and could fly, appeared in stories rendered in a simple style reminiscent of Fawcett Comics's Golden Age Captain Marvel. His only apparent weakness was snakebite.

FOR FANS OF INNOVATIVE REVISIONIST SUPERHEROES!

This graphic novel series was created in celebration of Eclipse Comics’ tenth anniversary. The story begins with a total eclipse that took place millennia ago. At that moment, a baby was born and was commanded to be sacrificed. The primitive people complied, only to be stunned when the sacrifice…failed.

Since that day, the boy called Zzed has been immortal. But while he once cherished his longevity, he now seeks oblivion destruction above all else. Sadly for him, knives, bullets, bombs, and even dissection are unable to cause him permanent harm. He simply reincorporates, and his life drags on. Finally, he has decided that the only way to destroy himself is to destroy the entire world.

To stop him, Eclipse gathers all of its modern characters, including Miracleman, the Prowler, Strike!, Aztec Ace, and others in an incredible anniversary event.

Miracleman or Marvelman as he is known in the UK, is the British version of CAPTAIN MARVEL AKA SHAZAM! This is the beginning of Neil Gaimans' saga of "The Golden Age", following Alan Moore's ultimate superhero battle that ended his run on the title.

"The Golden Age", shows the world as a utopia gradually being transformed by alien technologies, and benignly ruled by Miracleman and other parahumans, though he has nagging doubts about whether he has done the right thing by taking power. Gaiman's focus in "The Golden Age" is less the heroes themselves than the people who live in this new worldV

MARK BUCKINGHAM (collaborator on GAIMAN'S SANDMAN and DEATH series) lavishly illustrates this fantastic high quality full color comic book printed on high quality paper stock.

ALAN MOORE REAL WAR STORIES #1 COMIC BOOK!
RARE and OUT OF PRINT.

HARD TO FIND COLLECTORS ITEM WRITTEN BY ALAN MOORE (THE ACCLAIMED WRITER OF THE WATCHMEN)!

The Department of Defense tried to stop the distribution of Real War Stories #1, published on behalf of the Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors. Alan Moore effectively contrasts an ex-soldier’s past and present life.

In 1987, at the height of the US involvement in several "covert" wars in Central America, the CCC) enlisted some of the nations best comix authors and artists to produce a volume that would tell the stories of Vietnam veterans who'd been traumatized their war experiences, enlisted personnel in the services who'd successfully sought CO status, and civilians victimized by US-funded Central American dictatorships. The result was this masterfully drawn and written volume, Real War Stories.

The contents:

"The Elite of the Fleet," the narrative of an African American Navy CO;
"Tapestries," an especially poignant reminiscences of a Viet Nam vet;
"False Note," a narrative of a woman CO;
"Alternate Service," a memoir of a CO who performed alternate service;
"The Decision," the story of Andy Mager's Selective Service resistance; and the masterful
"A Long Time Ago & Today," Conquistador and US exploitation of El Salvador.

About the Author
Neil Gaiman wrote the award-winning graphic novel series The Sandman, and with Terry Pratchett, the award-winning novel Good Omens. His first book for children, The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish, illustrated by Dave McKean, hasn't yet won any awards, but was one of Newsweek's Best Children's Books of 1997. Angels & Visitations, a small press story collection, was nominated for a World Fantasy Award and won the International Horror Critics Guild Award for Best Collection, despite not having any horror in it. Well, hardly any.Born in England, he now makes his home in America, in a big dark house of uncertain location where he grows exotic pumpkins and accumulates computers and cats. He is currently at work turning his first novel Neverwhere into a film for Jim Henson films.
