YUMMY FUR 4 COMIC BOOKS CHESTER BROWN ED THE HAPPY CLOWN VAMPIRE AUTOBIOGRAPHY!!
YUMMY FUR 4 COMIC BOOKS. CHESTER BROWN
OUT OF PRINT. HARD TO FIND COLLECTOR'S ITEM
Published by VORTEX COMICS
Yummy Fur was published by Vortex, the same folks who brought out the enigmatic Mister X. As such, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Yummy Fur is both thought-provoking and incredibly hard to describe. It’s a blend of slapstick, grotesques, empathy, and scatology. Its stories freely mix secret agents from alternate Earths with spontaneously exploding women and cannibalism. Sometimes, it seems that the whole point of the series is to cheese off the establishment. Its tackling of religion in “Mark” is a prime example of this.
A challenging, and somewhat obscure series, Yummy Fur comes recommended by such comics cognoscenti as Neil Gaiman (Sandman).
Featuring Ed the Happy Clown, Autobiographical material and Biblical adaptations of the New Testament.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Also includes essays on each of the works presented in this issue!

Described by art critic Robert Hughes as "the Brueghel of the 20th century," Robert Crumb has become the only sixties counter culture artist to break through into the fine art world with great acclaim. Laura Hoptman, curator of the Carnegie International said, "Crumb is one of the most subversive and important voices to come out of America in the 20th century." He's one of the greatest draftsmen of our time.
"I never get bored seeing more work from a master who is so obsessively in love with the act of drawing; every image, even and otherwise prosaic still life from a 'pizzeria in St. Hyppolyte du Fort, ' captures the eye and imagination." -- Steven Heller "The New York Times Book Review"

UNDERGROUND COMIX HUGE BOOK ROBERT CRUMB ZAP GILBERT SHELTON FREAK BROTHERS RARE
Rebel Visions: The Underground Comix Revolution [Paperback]
The first major historical work about the most influential artistic movement in America since the Beat Generation revolutionized literature.
This is a provocative chronicle of the guerilla art movement that changed comics and popular culture forever. This comprehensive book follows the movements of about 50 artists from 1963 to 1975, the heyday of the underground comix movement. Through interviews with the participants and other materials, Rebel Visions is the most intimate look ever at the people and events that forged the phenomenon known as underground comix, from New York to San Francisco, from the corn belt to deep in the heart of Texas, beginning that day in 1968 when R. Crumb debuted Zap #1 from a baby carriage in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district. Rosenkranz spent over 30 years researching this book and acquiring the cooperation of every significant underground cartoonist who worked throughout this period, including Crumb, Gilbert (Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers) Shelton, Bill (Zippy) Griffith, Art (Maus) Spiegelman, Jack Jackson, S. Clay Wilson, Robert Williams, and many more. The book is illustrated with many never-before-seen drawings by all of the underground cartoonists and exclusive photographs.
The book is centered in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district, where Crumb and the rest of his Zap cronies commingled with the rest of the city's countercultural scene, notably musicians like the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. The counterculture was omnipresent in San Francisco for those few years, with underground tabloids like Yellow Dog and the San Francisco Oracle steering the zeitgeist out-of-control, along with the music, political, and psychedelic drug scenes, all of which found a group of unlikely revolutionaries who drew cartoons right at the epicenter. This is the definitive book on a memorable and historic era.
From Publishers Weekly
Moving from year to year and town to town, through a revolving cast of artists and publishers, this story of revolutionary 60s art-making seeks to capture some of the frenzied scope and communal bonhomie that made the hippie counterculture click. The big names here are Robert Crumb, Robert Williams and Art Spiegelman, who emerge from the postwar era of conformity and repression into a period of broad cultural experimentation and self-discovery. Once the text moves beyond boilerplate mythmaking about San Francisco in the free love era, an interesting portrait begins to emerge-of ambitious, committed artists seeking to push their own boundaries, and with them the boundaries of society at large. In its detailed account of an art that celebrated sweating burnouts and libidinous creeps, the volume gives all the anecdotes and minutiae a reader might want. Lavishly illustrated with pages and panels from the underground press of the time (at least one per page), the book serves as a solid reference point for the developing styles of hippie draftsmanship. Crumb and co. round out a decade one-upping each other in degrees of explicitness and self-revelation, and leave behind a massive inheritance for future generations of doodlers to draw from. Illus.

RICHARD CORBEN DEN #6 SEXY UNDERGROUND AMAZON SEXY HOT MUSCLES HEAVY METAL RARE!

RICHARD CORBEN - DEN #6 COMIC BOOK
For fans of Underground Comix!
SEXY MUSCLE! AMAZON.
COLLECTOR'S ITEM! Highly sought after.
Richard Corben’s first two Den stories, “Neverwhere” and “Muvovum,” appeared in Heavy Metal. Den is an Earthman who finds himself stranded on a barbaric fantasy world full of monsters and wizards. This self-published series presents part three of the Den saga. In it, Den searches for his missing lover, Kath, meeting characters from the previous stories in a tale which also encompasses a parallel quest for magical stones of power owned by an evil wizard. There’s an almost photographic feel to Corben’s drawing, which is strangely at odds with the grotesques that populate his strips. The strong coloring and lettering styles play an important role, producing an unsettling overall effect on the artwork. Apart from Den itself there is usually at least one backup strip, including interesting examples of Corben’s early work
Terrific artwork from one of the undisputed masters of the Underground Comix movement.
For fans of RICHARD CORBEN's unique style of extreme Fantasy and Horror. A RARE and VINTAGE Underground Comic Book with lavish full color artwork printed on high quality paper.
Richard Corben returns to his most famous creation... DEN the sexy fantasy series which began in the seventies, serialized in HEAVY METAL magazine, and was eventually adapted in the eighties HEAVY METAL animated movie.
RICHARD CORBEN (b. 1940) is one of the best-known fantasy artists in the world. In 1970 he self-published FANTAGOR, a science fiction/horror comic, and later worked on Underground comix such as SLOW DEATH. In the early '70s he drew many stories for the Warren line (CREEPY, EERIE, VAMPIRELLA), and finally came Métal Hurlant, the French magazine released in America as HEAVY METAL, for whom Corben did many memorable stories.

ROBERT CRUMB BIBLE GRAPHIC NOVEL UNDERGROUND COMIX HRDCOVER BBW BOOK OF GENESIS!
The Book of Genesis Illustrated by Robert. Crumb [Hardcover]
R. Crumb (Author)
Hardcover: 224 pages
Publisher: W. W. Norton & Company; 1 edition (October 19, 2009)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0393061027
ISBN-13: 978-0393061024
Product Dimensions: 11 x 8.8 x 0.9 inches
Nominated for three 2010 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards: From Creation to the death of Joseph, here are all 50 chapters of the Book of Genesis, revealingly illustrated as never before.
Envisioning the first book of the bible like no one before him, R. Crumb, the legendary illustrator, reveals here the story of Genesis in a profoundly honest and deeply moving way. Originally thinking that we would do a take off of Adam and Eve, Crumb became so fascinated by the Bible’s language, “a text so great and so strange that it lends itself readily to graphic depictions,” that he decided instead to do a literal interpretation using the text word for word in a version primarily assembled from the translations of Robert Alter and the King James bible.
Now, readers of every persuasion—Crumb fans, comic book lovers, and believers—can gain astonishing new insights from these harrowing, tragic, and even juicy stories. Crumb’s Book of Genesis reintroduces us to the bountiful tree lined garden of Adam and Eve, the massive ark of Noah with beasts of every kind, the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed by brimstone and fire that rained from the heavens, and the Egypt of the Pharaoh, where Joseph’s embalmed body is carried in a coffin, in a scene as elegiac as any in Genesis. Using clues from the text and peeling away the theological and scholarly interpretation that have often obscured the Bible’s most dramatic stories, Crumb fleshes out a parade of Biblical originals: from the serpent in Eden, the humanoid reptile appearing like an alien out of a science fiction movie, to Jacob, a “kind’ve depressed guy who doesn’t strike you as physically courageous,” and his bother, Esau, “a rough and kick ass guy,” to Abraham’s wife Sarah, more fetching than most woman at 90, to God himself, “a standard Charlton Heston-like figure with long white hair and a flowing beard.”
As Crumb writes in his introduction, “the stories of these people, the Hebrews, were something more than just stories. They were the foundation, the source, in writing of religious and political power, handed down by God himself.” Crumb’s Book of Genesis, the culmination of 5 years of painstaking work, is a tapestry of masterly detail and storytelling which celebrates the astonishing diversity of the one of our greatest artistic geniuses.
Nominated for three 2010 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards: Best Adaptation from Another Work, Best Graphic Album, Best Writer/Artist.
From Publishers Weekly
Far removed from the satirical reimagining some might expect from the father of underground comix, Crumb's long-awaited take on the first book of the Bible presents the artist's own sensitive, visually intense reflections. Where most visual adaptations edit down their prose sources, Crumb has, strikingly, included every word of the Book of Genesis within his first major book-length work. His humanistic visual response to this religious text imbues even briefly mentioned biblical characters with unique faces and attitudes, and his renderings of the book's more storied personalities draw out momentous emotions inspired by the book's inherent drama. Throughout, Genesis is a virtual portfolio of Crumb's career-long effort to instill fluid cartoon drawing with carefully rendered lifelike detail.
Review
“Starred Review. Crumb’s vivid visual characterizations of the myriad characters, pious and wicked, make the most striking impression. His distinctive, highly rendered drawing style imparts a physicality that few other illustrated versions of this often retold chronicle have possessed. The centenarian elders show every one of their years, and the women, from Eve to Rachel, are as solidly sensual as any others Crumb has so famously drawn.” (Booklist )
“Crumb achieves a miracle all his own: he makes one of the world's oldest stories new again.” (Newsweek )
“[A] beautifully drawn and relentlessly faithful rendition of the first 50 chapters of the Bible by an apostle of the 1960s and sometimes profane progenitor of underground comics. Crumb has produced what could be the ultimate graphic novel.” (David Colton - USA Today )
“It’s a cartoonist’s equivalent of the Sistine Chapel. It’s awesome. Crumb has done a real artist’s turn here—he’s challenged himself and defied all expectation. ... I’ve read Genesis before. But never have I found it so compelling. By placing it squarely in the Middle East—and populating it with distinctively Semitic-looking people—Crumb makes it come alive brilliantly.” (Susan Jane Gilman -Morning Edition, NPR )
“From the Creation to the death of Joseph, here is the Book of Genesis, revealingly illustrated as never before. This eagerly awaited graphic work retells the first book of the Bible in a profoundly honest way....The result, four years in the making, is a tapestry of extraordinary detail, the finest work of Crumb’s legendary career.” (Graphic Novel Reporter )
“To say this book is a remarkable volume or even a landmark volume in comic art is somewhat of an understatement.... stands on its own as one of this century’s most ambitious artistic adaptations of the West’s oldest continuously told story.” (Paul Buhle - The Jewish Daily Forward )
About the Author
Born in Philadelphia, R. Crumb is the author of numerous comic works and one of the pioneers of underground comics. His books include Kafka, The Complete Crumb Comics (17 volumes), The R. Crumb Sketchbook (10 volumes), R. Crumb Draws the Blues, The Book of Mr. Natural, the #1 New York Times bestseller The Book of Genesis Illustrated by R. Crumb, R. Crumb: The Complete Record Cover Collection, and many more. He lives in the south of France with his wife, the artist Aline Kominsky-Crumb.

After many Eisner and Harvey comics awards, the Complete Crumb series comes to a close (at least in its current format—we will continue to collect the entirety of Crumb's career in single-volume collections like Hup and Mystic Funnies, beginning in 2005). This 17th volume collects a creatively fertile period for Crumb, having given up the editorial reins of his own legendary Weirdo magazine, allowing Crumb to get back to the proverbial drawing board. Included are Crumb's contributions to Weirdo from this period, as well as work from Whole Earth Review, Zap Comix, Premiere magazine, as well as many other rare gems. This volume, as with all volumes, includes a new introduction by Crumb as well as a new cover. The Complete Crumb series leaves no stone unturned, publishing everything from Crumb's most well-known comics to little-seen commercial art and rarely-if-ever seen treasures from private collections and the artist's archives.
