A former member of the Avengers and the Secret Defenders, Ludgate faked his own death to escape what he saw as a lifetime of failure. Now his New York apartment is a nesting place for local occult dabblers. One of them manages to summon Satan himself, Daimon Hellstorm, and is murdered by the evil deity. When Ludgate’s attempt at revenge results in yet another failure, he pleads with the Celtic spirits in a last-ditch attempt to unlock their secrets and power. One magical full-body tattooing later, Ludgate is given his mission: to destroy the world so that it might be reborn.
