MARVEL SUPERHEROES ADVENTURE GAMEBOOK
UNCANNY X-MEN: AN X-CELLENT DEATH

OUT OF PRINT. HARD TO FIND COLLECTOR'S ITEM.

Published in 1987 by TSR, the creators of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS.

You play a troupe of four X-Men (Wolverine, Rogue, Storm and Nightcrawler) investigating a United States government project gone wrong. Along the way you'll have to deal with corrupt government officials, ninja assassins and another mysterious evil agency.

One of this book's good features is the ability to control not one character, but a team of four, and this is done in such an original way it really deserves mention. The way multiple characters are handled here is very different from those found in other series.

Besides its originality, the book provides a suspense-filled and complex storyline, and will be appreciated by Marvel Comics fans, since its continuity appears to be in keeping with key events from the comic books of that era.

This is very much worth your while both to see the way multiple characters are handled and as a gamebook in its own right.

This series of gamebooks uses a system similar to that of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Gamebooks, which isn't surprising, since it's also a spin-off of a TSR role-playing game. In each volume, the reader controls one or more characters from Marvel comics. Each character comes with a set of pre-defined attributes which are combined with dice rolls and compared with target numbers in order to perform actions. Characters also have Health Points (which are self-explanatory) and Karma Points (which change as a result of good or bad deeds and which may be spent to improve dice rolls). The books were first published in the United States by TSR.
